Sunday Brunch Bite with Grrlz Will Be Boiz

Delighted in not only hearing these Grrlz at the Austin Pride Stage this past year…but loved WATCHING them!  Amazing energy and FUN!  They are a pretty cool group of musicians.  What comes from the Grrlz is, in their words, “organic.” Songs are born of late nights in the practice room, each building on the brain child of another, every member of the band in sync and anticipating where the others want to go creating an intense energy every drop of which is poured into the work, and translates easily both in recording and on stage.

GWBB formed in the Spring of 2008 in Austin Tx and in just over a year has played a large number of shows in Central Texas to crowds that continue to grow weekly. The growing buzz, reputation with venues, and positive response to their independent EP release, “How We Ended Up This Way” have served them well recently, earning them coveted spots in the annual FriendsFest Women’s Music Festival in Dripping Springs, TX in April 2009, the Austin Pride Festival in June 2009 and the kick-off party for the Austin Gay and Lesbian International Film Festival in Sept. 2009- the biggest and longest running LGBTQ film festival in the Southwest.   Their their first full length album is due out the start of 2010.

Sunday Brunch Bite with Singer/Songwriter Sue Quigley…

Sue Quigley, Nashville 2009
If you’re in the NW and a Storm Basketball fan (aren’t we all?) you may have seen Sue perform at the Key Arena for the Seattle Storm half-time. Or, maybe you saw her perform at Seattle Pride 2007  on the Main Stage, The famous Crocodile Cafe or The Tractor to name a few!  She recently returned from Nashville where WomensRadio Guerrilla Showcase sat down with Sue before her performance.  Thus the clip above!

Sue is the kind of songwriter who’s “soul’s travels” are placed melodically, fearlessly out into the open. Driving yet tender, and still secret enough to feel them as your own.  And…she’s a funny, sarcastic gal.  What’s not to like?  Okay…I’m not a music reviewer…I share them as I discover them!  But hey, give her a listen and find out for your self.  Head to her website below, click on her album and look for my favorite “Killingsworth Street”!

I know she’d love to hear from you too so you’re free to leave her a message right here at “Get Out with Kerry Kel”!

Enjoy!
